Our Story
Since 1998, R&S Logging has grown from three pieces of equipment into an established operation with numerous machines and more than 25 employees.
Through the years, the company has experienced both blessings and challenges, but God's faithfulness has remained constant.
Today, James & Jan, along with their three children, Jimmy, Joshua, and Jessica, remain committed to honoring the Lord in both their personal lives and their business.
R&S Logging is more than a company. It's a testimony of faith, family, hard work, and answered prayers.
"Without the Lord and my family, I wouldn't be where I am today."
-James Rhodes
"But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." -Joshua 24:15
The Meaning Behind R&S
The name R&S actually originated during James's fishing days. When he was a young boy he would go fishing with his father and grandfather. Everyone knew them as "Rhodes & Son." James wanted to reflect on these memories by giving his business the name "R&S Logging." Little did he know that this simple nickname would one day represent a sucessful logging operation serving much of Eastern North Carolina & Southeastern Virginia. After many years later, he is still keeping it in the family with R&S.
The Heart Behind R&S Logging
Meet Janice Rhodes
Vice President/Secretary
Behind every sucessful family business is someone whose love, strength, and encouragement help hold it all together. For R&S Logging, that person is Janice.
As James's wife, a cherished mother, & loving gigi, Janice has been there through the many seasons of building a business- celebrating the victories, facing the challenges, and always trusting in God's plan along the way.
Her unwavering faith, love for her family, and dedication to the Lord reflect the very values upon which R&S Logging was founded.
Through every chapter, Janice has remained a reminder that the greatest blessings in life aren't measured by success, but by faith, family, and the goodness of God.
"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not into thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." -Proverbs 3:5-6
From Water to the Woods
Meet James Rhodes
President/Owner
In 1998, James Rhodes traded a successful career on the water for an unexpected journey into the logging industry. After years as a commercial fisherman, increasing regulations led him to trade in those rubber boots for a pair of steel toe boots! What began as an uncertain career change soon became a passion for a thriving family business.
James's great desire is not simply to leave behind a successful business, but a legacy of faith that points others to Jesus Christ.
While James takes great pride in what he has built, his greatest blessings will always be his wife and three kids. Above every title or accomplishment, he is first a servant of Jesus Christ, a husband, and a father.
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." -John 14:6
